Amb. Li Zhengjun Donated 2000 Kina for World Health Day Launching Ceremony in POM

On April 7, Amb. Li Zhengjun attended the World Health Day Launching Ceremony, co-organized by the National Road Safety Council and Department of Health of Papua New Guinea. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, Amb. Li Zhengjun presented a cheque of 2000 kina to the National Road Safety Council (NSRC). For the launching of the World Heath Day, Amb. Li in his remarks extended the cordial greetings to the PNG people. He sincerely wished that the PNG people, especially the youngsters, good health, and urged them to remain conscious of road safety and to avoid injuries.

Both Dr. Nicholas Mann, Secretary for Health, and Mr. John Siola, Executive Director of NSRC, expressed their gratitude to Amb. Li and the Chinese government and people for the donation to the road safety endeavor, which was the theme of this year's World Health Day in PNG.

Present at the launching ceremony were also Hon. Don Polye, Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Hon. Melchoir Pep,Minister for Health, Dr. Yves Renault, WHO Representative in PNG and about one thousand local residents, including primary and secondary students. The launching site was decorated with colorful flags and streamers. A police band played music. Various traditional performances were also staged around the theme of road safety.

Amb. Li's donation was covered by the media agencies including FM93.
