China Donates Medicine to PNG

On April 2, Amb. Li Zhenjun handed over on behalf of the Chinese Government the 3rd batch of medicine worth 20,000 kina to the Department of Health of PNG. Present at the hand-over ceremony were Dr. Nicholas Mann, Secretary for Health, and Dr. Alphonse Tay, Chief Executive Officer of the Port Moresby General Hospital, Mr. Liu Tielin, Economic and Commercial Councellor of the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese doctors and other medical staff of the hospital.

Amb. Li delivered a speech at the ceremony. He said he was very pleased to hand over these batches of medicine and medical equipment within less than one year's time period since he assumed the office of the Ambassador. This shows the friendship of the Chinese people to our PNG brothers and sisters. He also praised the Chinese doctors for their hard work and good service to the PNG people. He expressed his conviction that the friendship and cooperation in various fields between China and PNG would continue to develop more smoothly with each passing day. Both Secretary Man and Dr. Tae expressed their gratitude on behalf of their governments to the Chinese government. They both said that the three batches of medicine and medical instruments indicated that the assistance is not a short term but a long term endearvor. The PNG people were really benefited from these medical assistances.
