Chinese Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Li Zhaoxing met his PNG counterpart Rt. Hon. Sir Rabbie Namaliu

On October 18, Chinese Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Li Zhaoxing met Papua New Guinean Foreign Minister Rt. Hon. Sir Rabbie Namaliu when attending the 15th APEC Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok.

Minister Li said PNG has become China's biggest trading partner among South Pacific island nations and there is great potential for the further development of the cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese side appreciates PNG government's position on adhering to the one-China policy and wishes to make joint efforts with the PNG side to push forward the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.

Sir Rabbie said the one-China policy is the corner stone of PNG government's policy on China and PNG will continue to firmly pursue this policy. PNG appreciates China's long-term assistance and support and stands ready to work along with China for the further development of Sino-PNG relations. Sir Rabbie also extended his congratulations on China's success of its manned space mission.
